I was in the mood for a really short, hot sports romance, and this one filled the bill perfectly. I had forgotten how hot the Harlequin Blaze books tin go, because at times this 1 bordered on the erotic. Information technology was a pretty steamy read about an Art History professor (Hayden) looking for a 'fling' to spice upwardly her stale dearest life before she settled downwardly with Mr. Rubber and Deadening, and a sexy, formerly bad boy hockey star (Brody) who was tired of a life of 'flings' and was now looking for something mo I was in the mood for a really short, hot sports romance, and this one filled the pecker perfectly. I had forgotten how hot the Harlequin Blaze books can get, considering at times this one bordered on the erotic. It was a pretty steamy read nigh an Art History professor (Hayden) looking for a 'fling' to spice up her stale love life before she settled downwardly with Mr. Safe and Wearisome, and a sexy, formerly bad male child hockey star (Brody) who was tired of a life of 'flings' and was now looking for something more than fulfilling. At that place were some tough times in the human relationship, including the fact that Hayden'due south father (who only so happened to be the owner of the team that Brody played for) was implicated in a game fixing scandal, accused of having some players on his squad 'throw' the games, and then betting on the outcomes. At that place were plenty of scorching moments between the H/H as Brody tried to convince Hayden that their relationship was more a temporary thing based but on sex activity. I enjoyed seeing Hayden realize that what she thought she wanted in a relationship was not what she really needed, and I was glad when she finally decided to give Brody a real gamble. Although for the life of me I don't know why she resisted so much! Not only was this guy hot with a uppercase 'H', intelligent and fun, he was also eager to settle down and one day start a family, all the things that Hayden claimed to want. The only affair that seemed to be standing in their fashion was his career, which Hayden seemed to have an unfair resentment of, based on growing up with a dad who was a hockey motorcoach who didn't have much time for her. But in one case Hayden decided to compromise and open her optics to what was correct in forepart of her, information technology was pretty much smooth sailing.

So all in all, a pretty fast, piece of cake read, perfect for the sports romance fan who likes the romance on the spicy side. Every bit an added bonus, in that location was a pretty satisfying epilogue, which isn't always the case with romances these days. Nice petty afternoon read--4 stars!

Only Hayden wants information technology to stay a one-night deal and slips away without leaving her number.

This beingness Romancelandia, information technology turns out Hayden's father owns the team Brody plays for and Hayden and Brody run across again.

I idea the romance between Hayden and Brody was prissy. Brody enjoyed the intelligent conversations he could accept with Hayden, and she enjoyed his forthrightness and comfortable sexuality, which contrasts with her reserved art historian beau dorsum home (they were "on a break" and then I wouldn't phone call this cheating, YMMV.) After a childhood traveling constantly with her hockey coach male parent, I thought her reluctance to forge a meaningful relationship with a ever traveling player was understandable, then it didn't grate on me like the push away trope tin.

I did even so observe the scandal suspense plot nearly ridiculous and her father's alcoholism treated unrealistically. If but a pouty face and a "I'm disappointed in you lot" prompted a drunk to admit a problem and sober up. I get together that she didn't want to take up a brusque volume with the realities of alcoholism, simply if yous're not going to practice it right, why carp in the first place? Was it so of import her already flawed dad also be an alcoholic?

All told, information technology was a fun book about hockey and love, but information technology'due south ultimately quite forgettable.

On a break from her electric current love interest, Hayden isn't looking for anything serious, just a chance to permit out some steam and reliever her body of some tension – but when Brody enters the bar... all of that is nearly to change.

Hockey star, Brody Croft is tired of the countless supply of women. For the first time he wants something that is more than than but a ane-night or a fame seeking gold-digger. He knew Hayden was that woman, he merely didn't know how to make her see information technology.

When things get complicated – one-night-stand-turned-fling, bribery and criminal investigations... Hayden and Brody are put in the line of fire when their human relationship complicates things, leaving these two new lovers to figure out how to navigate their feelings.

I take been a fan of Elle Kennedy since I read The Deal and I am sort of becoming a whore for Hockey themed romances. As much equally I love the super-alpha heroes, I sometimes find myself fatigued to the dainty guy hero. And although Brody was blastoff, he was dainty. He was that guy who instantly knew he was tired of just meaningless sex, that he wanted more – I loved that he stood by and allowed Hayden to accept her rules, not pushing too hard.

A sexy read from Ms. Kennedy! I loved the aspect of these two characters existence in such unlike places in their lives, but finding mutual ground. A great read for anyone who enjoys a steamy contemporary-romance!

This is a really satisfying read. From the beginning to the epilogue, Trunk Bank check was exactly what I wanted and non what I expected from Elle Kennedy. I've only read her Out of Uniform books, which while very good, are very dissimilar from Body Check.

The hero, Brody, is a 29 yo hockey player who is by his womanizing years. He is already open to a existent human relationship when he is approached by the heroine, Hayden, in a bar. She is on a pause from her less than exciting beau and is in town to support her begetter, the owner of Brody's hockey team. Hayden'due south father is in the middle of a nasty divorce and has been accused of rigging games.

Elle Kennedy'due south heroines always accept agency and Hayden is no different. She does non need to exist a virgin or take a horrific back story to have a personality. She is a Berkeley professor who is trying to take stock of her life and part of that is trying to recapture the close human relationship she had with her father. They drifted autonomously when he bought the squad and she moved to the west coast. Earlier her visit to Chicago, Hayden told her beau, Doug, she needed a break from their relationship. Doug was intent on taking things besides slowly and that amidst other things made her question their relationship. I was surprised at how nice Doug was. He simply has a small part in the story, but he was surprisingly sympathetic and sweetness. My only question about Hayden is what did she do all day? She'due south not spending time with her dad and she's non with Brody. I don't care if she is in the penthouse of the Four Seasons, that sounds dull.

The plot apropos Hayden'southward father did not go how I expected, nor did the characterization of her very young footstep-mother. Hayden's pace-female parent was specially surprising and she was not the 100% evil gold digger you detect so ofttimes.

The events of the emotional climax and the HEA were very satisfying and the epilogue finished the book perfectly.

When I saw Elle Kennedy and Sports Romance my instant thought was 'hell ya!' Just this book fell short for me in basically all the categories. I forced myself to read the last twoscore pages and then the epilogue was the ultimate nail in the coffin pulling my (expected) 2 stars to one.

I didn't particularly like whatsoever of the characters in this book. I never found myself rooting for the couple to stay together, for the hockey team to win, for the messy divorce to go smoothly. I just didn't care about any of them.

The plot was… boring? No plot lines were explored. Side characters were there but purposeless. The expected short term breakup was *meh. There was none (or minimal) turmoil or drama. No excitement! Goose egg to hold my attending. I mean, there was someone waiting for her at home and even that wasn't a big deal to this story! Both master characters were fully unaffected by almost all the surrounding storylines which made them feel… pointless.

I'm sorry, merely having a dad who was married to someone ii years older than you for a significant corporeality of time, who is going through a divorce, is accused of cheating, being an alcoholic, throwing bets, and excessive gambling… WHY was this not a larger point of contention in the story?!

The ebook version of this volume besides has formatting errors that I really struggled with. Overall I would not recommend this book. Perhaps endeavor a different romance by this author - The Bargain is excellent 👍🏻

Hayden Houston as the female lead in the story was very likeable. She was a professor of arts history in California who came to visit her dad in Chicago. She was the type of woman who craves stability in life which she never had while growing up because she has spent her budding years moving state to land because of her father who'due south a hockey coach at that time. It was likewise the reason why she never dated hockey players. But before settling, she planned to take a one-night fling and be totally bold and outrageous for only 1 night with a hot guy she could discover in the bar she was hanging out with her friend. Then while she was busy combing the bar for a hot guy, her eyes rested on the back of one of the tallest guy with oh-so-hot-trunk-with-the-bang-up-butt and when that so-chosen hot guy turned in an angle she was able to glimpse his face, her mouth literally dropped down the floor! Considering not only Brody Croft had the hottest body simply he was one of the most gorgeous guy she's ever seen! Like a Greek God kinda gorgeous! But all she wanted from him was 1 night of pure hedonistic pleasance, and nothing else! They could forget virtually each other the adjacent day… oh and then she thought!

Brody Croft was a hockey actor, unbeknownst to Hayden. He's known as the playboy of the hockey arena. He was immediately attracted to her the moment she approached him in the bar and didn't have any second thoughts of hooking up with her all through the night of hedonistic elation! Merely after one dark with her, he'due south a changed man! And he realized that he didn't simply want i nighttime with Hayden but one that would found a real relationship. How he could convince Hayden of that when she refused to have annihilation to do with him afterwards their so-called ane night stand up. That was one serious dilemma for our hot male atomic number 82!

Whew, if all one-dark-stands were as hot and as fabled in bed as Brody Croft, I'm guessing every day would be one-dark represent me! LOL!

I truly loved the characters of Hayden Houston and Brody Croft. Their chemistry in the story was perceptible the moment they laid eyes on each other. The storyline was very neat and for me has no drawbacks any. Information technology was a funny and sexy read. I totally enjoyed every minute of reading it. It was utterly engrossing! The characters were reastic. I really love a story were the roles are reversed and it's the male who want the relationship and the woman who doesn't. Brody works very hard to get Hayden to open and concord to them dating. The supporting characters were great also. Hayden's best friend, Darcy, almost steals the book, but the author does a bang-up chore of controling her. I also liked the fashion in which the evil stepmonster is turns out to be a regular woman who even gets attends the wedding of Hayden and Brody.
